Transforming Birth Trauma
Restoring Trust in the Body & the Intelligence of Birth
with Kristina Turner - Birth Trauma Integration Facilitator
“Healing isn’t about forgetting what happened - it’s about understanding, and transforming, how it lives within you.”
Together, we repair the past and prepare the future.
I am trained in The Portal: Perinatal Training through Compassionate Inquiry, a psychotherapeutic approach developed by Dr. Gabor Maté.
My practice integrates trauma-aware care with a deep understanding of the hormonal design of birth, and the systemic conditions that so often disrupt it.
I support women in integrating the emotional, physiological, and spiritual impact of birth through compassionate dialogue and gentle somatic work.
This is a space to reclaim trust in your body, reconnect with your innate wisdom, and restore reverence for the sacred intelligence of birth.
The Approach:
This work is rooted in Compassionate Inquiry and informed by a deep understanding of the intelligence of birth. It reaches far beyond conventional therapy or coaching.
Transforming Birth Trauma is a process that honours body, psyche, and spirit as one continuum. It supports you to meet your experience not with judgment or blame, but with compassion and curiosity - creating the conditions for integration and post-traumatic growth.
Each session combines trauma-informed dialogue, somatic awareness, and spiritual insight. Together we explore how early life patterns and cultural conditioning may have shaped your response to birth, and how your body’s innate intelligence can guide the repair.
Ceremonial elements, aromatic and herbal allies, and gentle ritual practices may be woven into the process – which is always tailor-made for your individual needs. This allows healing to occur through embodied sensing as well as understanding.
This work helps you reclaim the full truth of your experience, restore trust in your body’s wisdom, and recognise the sacred dimension of birth as an initiatory event in a woman’s life.
How Sessions work
Each session lasts 2 hours and is held online or in person. The session can be held in English or Swedish.
The process is intuitive and client-led, guided by Compassionate Inquiry principles of presence, curiosity, and safety.
Common themes:
Understanding interventions and their impact on your birth
Restoring trust in your body
Reframing the story of “failure” into one of resilience
Reclaiming personal authority and connection
You are invited to revisit your experience, not to relive it, but to understand it.
You will be supported to see clearly what your body was doing right, and how external factors may have disrupted that natural unfolding.
This helps restore self-trust, compassion, and a deeper sense of connection to your body’s innate wisdom.
Confidentiality is fully respected; what you share remains private and held with care.
What a Session Involves:
Grounding and intention setting
Compassionate inquiry to explore your birth
Gentle somatic touch with botanical oils
Reflection and integration
Every session unfolds uniquely. Many women find that a single session offers a new way to see their birth.
Investment: £180 (SEK 2,200)
How to prepare:
Set aside two hours where you won’t be interrupted.
This time is for you.
You may wish to bring:
A hot drink
A candle
A blanket
Tissues
Ensure you have a good internet connection if you are joining online. I will explain the process and the principles of Compassionate Inquiry so you feel grounded and informed. You can pause or stop the session at any time.
After the Session:
Integration is an important part of this work.
You may wish to write, draw, or create something that gives form to what emerged - a new birth story, a poem, or a piece of art.
I encourage you to rest, move gently, drink water, and allow the insights to settle in your body and awareness.
Healing begins when we listen - not to the story of what went wrong, but to the body’s quiet knowing of what it did right.
Transforming Birth Trauma is a journey toward trust, connection, and the sacred intelligence that lives within you.
About Kristina Turner
A Unique Perspective on Birth and Healing
With over twenty years’ experience as a writer and educator specialising in women’s health and birth culture, I bring a combination of insight into the sensitive physiological and hormonal design of birth, alongside a clear understanding of the contemporary maternity systems that so often interfere with it.
I am the author of Natural Birth and Revolution i BB-fabriken (Revolution in the Maternity Factory), and regularly contribute to media and podcasts on birth and maternity care. My work bridges the spiritual initiation of becoming a mother with trauma-aware therapeutic practices.
My training includes The Portal: Perinatal Training through Compassionate Inquiry, a psychotherapeutic approach that informs how I listen, how I work with the body, and how meaning is allowed to emerge rather than be imposed.
I support women in integrating the emotional, physiological, and existential impact of birth through compassionate dialogue and gentle somatic work.
Ceremony and ritual are woven in to honour birth as a profound, transformative, and inherently sacred process — regardless of how it unfolded.

“Kristina saw me without judgment. As I spoke and wept, she held me with gentle presence, massaging my hands and feet with beautiful oils while listening deeply, reflecting my story, and affirming the truth I had long known in my body. The sorrow and loss will never fully disappear, but Kristina helped me see that my body knew exactly what it was doing. Through our session, I could finally recognise that my body had always known how to birth — it was the system that failed to listen. Her compassion helped me understand my experience, release shame, and honour my own strength. It has taken seven years for me to speak about the details of my birth. Kristina saw me, understood my pain, and affirmed the truth that has awakened within me: a system that treats birthing women like this cannot be born from an equal society.”

“From the very beginning, Kristina created a safe and sacred space — one that felt deeply respectful, open, and warm. She has a beautiful ability to hold space with both strength and softness, allowing me to go to the very core of what wanted to be seen. I felt completely safe with her, free to express everything that arose, even the layers of shame and grief that I had carried silently for a long time. Kristina embodied what I would call empathetic abiding presence. She sensed intuitively where it was possible to return to old pain, and gently invited me to stay there, to let it be witnessed rather than fixed. It was incredibly healing to be met in that way. She also felt where there was regret present in my transition into motherhood — moments where I hadn’t been able to give myself what I needed - and she found such a tender, ritual way to soften that and offer it back to me. Through her guidance, I could reconnect to my own strength and see the beauty in the moments where I was standing in my power, something she mirrored gracefully. It was truly an honor to do this birth integration with her. I came out of the session with a deep sense of peace, clarity, and gratitude.”

“I feel deep reverence and gratitude for Kristina’s work. I came to the session carrying deep-rooted beliefs about myself and about the birth of my son — a birth that began as a home birth and ended in an emergency caesarean. Kristina’s healing hands and her warm, wise presence gave me the space to meet long-held patterns of self-doubt. I could speak my truth, not only about the birth itself, but also about earlier life experiences, because everything is connected. Kristina weaves together deep knowledge of contemporary maternity care with the embodied wisdom she possesses. Her unique combination of touch, insight, and presence created the conditions for deep release and healing. One thing is clear to me: all births hold the potential to be healing and empowering, whatever form they take. Even when things do not unfold as we hoped, there is light to be found if we have the courage to meet the darkness. I could not have done this without support, and Kristina’s presence made it possible. Birth is sacred, and so too are the births that did not go as planned. I wholeheartedly recommend this session to any woman whose birth did not turn out as she had wished for. Thank you again, Kristina. I am endlessly grateful.”

“I can now create a loving sense of logic and meaning in how I have thought and felt about my birth. Kristina showed me the way through her empathetic approach and the warmth she radiates. I feel a sense of closure around many old thoughts that have been looping in my mind far too many times. My conversation with Kristina helped me unravel my interpretations of the events surrounding the birth of my child, and to see patterns in my thinking and life. This led me to deeper insights about how my experiences as a young child also affect what I experience as an adult. It was deeply nourishing and truly wonderful to share my story with Kristina. It felt beautiful to receive support from an older, wise woman who could offer me some of her loving wisdom.”

“Meeting with Kristina gave me a deep sense of inner calm after many reflections on my birth. Being able to tell my story again, so gently held and listened to with love and wisdom, was deeply healing. Through our conversation, I could see how old patterns had followed me into the birthing process. Kristina helped me understand the unreasonable demands I placed on myself — to give birth instinctively within a disempowering system. When that insight landed, much of my self-criticism began to soften. For the first time, I could truly see that I did give birth in my power, even though it did not unfold as I had hoped. This changed how I view my entire experience. I now feel more peace, maturity, and acceptance. The images we worked with have stayed with me as symbols of strength and endurance. After the session, I felt calm — not raw or torn open, but more whole. I still carry grief and the wish that things had been different, but now with greater gentleness toward myself and a new understanding that this, too, has taught me something important. I see my own strength with new eyes.”

“Looking back on our conversation, what landed most strongly was that I was right to speak up. What carried me through birth was not ego-based strength, but something far deeper — a biological, bodily, and spiritual force beyond my conscious control. A primal power that held me, even when the circumstances tried to block it. Perhaps the most important shift was understanding that there is nothing wrong with me. On the contrary, I am profoundly powerful, grounded in both physical and subtle energy, and I can trust that. This power deserves reverence and respect, and I now know I need to protect it rather than reign it in. I also became aware of a part of me that has kept me small: self-sabotage, and not fully standing up for myself. To see this without guilt or criticism has been crucial. Alongside this, a new sense of calm has settled in me — a natural ease that wasn’t there before. I notice it in my relationships. I am less focused on others and more rooted in myself. I express my needs more clearly, and my connections feel deeper and more true. What has changed is the sense of being on my own side. My body knew. It did its best. And the force that carried me through birth does not need to be controlled — only honoured.

Get in touch.
If you recognise your own experience in this, you can get in touch.
You don’t need to know exactly what you want or need, or whether your experience “counts” as trauma. Birth leaves traces in the body and nervous system, however it unfolds.
I offer a held, respectful space to speak, reflect, and make meaning of your experience — without rushing, fixing, or reinterpreting it away.
Welcome!
